Ruchi Sehgal is an Assistant Professor in the area of Business Communication at IIM Jammu. She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics with specialization in psycholinguistics from Centre for Advanced Studies in Linguistics (CASL), University of Delhi, Delhi.

Her work encompasses the study of lexical units in language of the special population and for English Langauge Learners. Her Ph.D. and M.Phil work was primarily about the breakdown of lexical units in a language. She has also explored the aspects of teaching words and grammar to second language learners. She has taught various subjects on communication, namely Communication Skills, Communication Skills for Professionals, English for Specific purpose and Business Communication. Her prime area of research interests are Child Language, Language Teaching, Language Impairment in Child language and Adult language, Language Intervention strategies, Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL).

She has been awarded with UGC-JRF in Linguistics and has also been selected as University Teaching Assistant at CASL, University of Delhi, Delhi. She is the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant , USA 2015-16 and has worked as Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant for Hindi Language at Kansas University, USA. Her college, S.P.M College, University of Delhi has recognized her as a "Star Alumnus"of her batch (2003-2007) for being an exemplary achiever.

Her research papers have been published in journals and conference proceedings. Apart from the published work, she has also presented papers in various national and international conferences.
